1. Wipe immediately after use
Olive wood does not like standing water. After cutting, simply wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Never clean in the dishwasher – the heat and water would dry out the wood and cause it to crack.

2. Regularly rub with olive oil
Olive wood is alive – and needs moisture. Rub your board with food-grade olive oil every 4–6 weeks. Simply put a few drops on a cloth, massage it in, and let it soak overnight. Wipe off any excess oil the next day.
The oil protects the wood from drying out, deepens the grain, and restores the board's characteristic shine.
3. Neutralize odor with lemon & salt
After cutting garlic, onions, or fish, the board can absorb odors. The natural solution: Sprinkle coarse salt on the board, rub half a lemon over it, and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then rinse and dry.

4. Store upright or flat – but dry
Store your cutting board upright or flat in a dry place. Avoid direct sunlight and proximity to heat sources (stove, heater). Both will dry out the wood and can lead to cracks.
5. Small scratches? No problem
Over time, cut marks will appear – this is normal and desired. They give the board its character. You can gently sand deeper scratches with fine sandpaper (220 grit) and then immediately rub with olive oil.
